Introduction |
||||||||||||
Our club is happy to have as its home the Brewster Ice Arena. TSC is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization sanctioned by U.S. Speedskating (USS) and is a member of the Middle Atlantic Speedskating Association (MASA). Everyone working for the club is a volunteer, including coaches, officers, board members, and committee persons. All monies collected from membership fees and ice fees are used to pay for operating expenses and the rental of ice. |

Purpose and GoalsTo promote the sport of ice speedskating for all persons, regardless of age or ability. To help every individual achieve his/her personal goal by teaching the necessary skills needed to participate at a recreational level or competitively in speedskating events at local, regional, national, and international levels. |
Where and When We SkateOur speedskating program is held at the Brewster Ice Arena on Monday evenings during the months of October through March. In order to take full advantage of paid ice time, group discussions will no longer be held on ice. We are asking that you be ready to go on the ice ½ hour before ice time for warm-up and discussion |
Requirements |
||||||||||
If
you are new to the sport of speedskating and not sure if this sport is for
you, you may attend our sessions for one, two or three times, skating on
whatever skates you have. You will be required to pay a per-session ice fee
and sign a liability waiver. If you are under age 18, you must bring a parent/guardian
to sign the waiver for you. If you decide
to continue, we will require that you become a member and that you make an
effort to purchase speedskates. It is NOT necessary that you know how to
speedskate, just that you are a somewhat proficient skater. You MUST wear
a helmet, long sleeves, long pants, and gloves when attending the ice session. Please note; important new changes to requirements for TSC skating sessions. All skaters must now belong to US Speedskating & MASA (or your regional association) to attend a club sanctioned session. This is for insurance purposes and mandatated by USS. |
